Project Manager FAQs
A1: There are a variety of options for viewing projects. My Workspace provides a listing of all projects assigned to you, as well as projects where you are a designated resource. From this view, you can perform a number of actions such as ticket management, time entry and uploading documentation. The Projects tab displays projects assigned to you and includes financial summary information. From any screen in BusinessTime, the Open Project tab located in the Projects ribbon opens a window that includes all of your projects. From this window, you can quickly open the project.
A2: For a comprehensive view of budget information, access your project using your preferred method. The Overview tab provides graphical summaries of project budget and spend. The Project Details provides additional financial information in the top section of the screen. Finally, the Projects overview tab provides comprehensive budget details including a Project Health summary with baseline, estimated and actual expenditure.
A3: My Workspace provides a listing of all Tasks and Work Packets assigned to you. Users can choose to view tasks by status or by project. Both views, allow users to perform a number of actions such as marking tasks complete, adding time entries, setting favorites, adding notes and uploading documentation.
A4: A project checklist helps PMs keep track of all activities necessary for each project. This checklist can vary between projects and will vary between companies. To manage a project checklist, access your project using your preferred method. Click on the Milestones tab and click on the Add button to select items for your checklist.
A5: Work packets are tasks broken down into further detail. The Task is the “What” and the Work Packet is the “How.” Work Packets are not required, but most organizations find they add needed detail. Each work packet can include budgeted and actual hours to allow Project Managers to manage their project budget at the most granular level. This level of detail allows Project Managers to oversee budget to actuals and take corrective action in a timely manner.
A6: Yes, BusinessTime is a project documentation repository and allows you to link documents at the Project, Milestone, or Task level. To upload project documentation, access your project using your preferred method. Documentation can be added via the Project Documents tab on the left panel menu, or added to individual milestones via the Milestones tab. Additionally, project team members have the ability to add documentation to project Tasks.
